On May 1st, 2010 the TorC branch office participated in the 61st annual Fiesta Parade.  The theme of this event was “Fiesta goes Hollywood.”  Mike and Mary Merrell were kind enough to loan us their 42 ft boat that Mike pulled with their pickup.  Our float was called “Disney’s Hollywood Soda Fountain,” which correlated with the custom ice cream paint job on the boat. We topped the boat with a handmade, 6 ft tall ice cream float, 7 of our youth volunteers dressed as Disney characters, and Kathy Chapman (administrator) and Bob Sidway (occupational therapist), who were also in costume.  In addition to this we had several Disney characters walk beside the float to passed out candy. The list of characters included Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Tinker Bell, Cinderella, Woody from Toy Story, Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pinocchio, Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians, The Mad Hatter and the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland, and Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.  We posted Ambercare banners on each side of the pickup, that induced a general enunciation of “Wow! Look at Ambercares’ Float.”  It was a fun and memorable experience in our community.
